A JAPANESE INTERN IN SINGAPORE-WEEKLY DIARY:
Week1 / Week2 / Week3 / Week4 / Week5
What It’s Like to Work in Singapore
WEEK 2:
Hi guys, glad to see you again!
This is my 2nd week of my diary?
Today, I would like to share what it is like to work in Singapore!
For my internship, my working hours are 9am-6pm (Monday to Friday).
Usually, I take MRT to get to my office and it takes about 30 minutes.
Sometimes, I also go by a bus, but it takes twice longer than taking MRT.
Trains in Singapore are very convenient,
because about every 3 minutes a train arrives! even if you are not in central area.
Though on weekdays, trains can be crowded around 8am and 6:30pm,
but not so crazy like subways in Tokyo?
Normally, I wear casual dress or basic shirt and skirt and flat shoes.
The weather in Singapore is around 25-30℃, but once you get inside any buildings here,
It’s freezing!!! ?
I think most of air conditioners are set as jet mode,
so it is good to bring jacket to the office also.
An umbrella also is a must-have in Singapore since it rains A LOT here ☹,
so I always bring a folding umbrella with me ?.
My lunchtime is from 12 to 13:30.
I and my colleagues often go to hawker centers near our office.
There are many hawker centers in Singapore.
Hawker centers have various kinds of food and they are very cheap!
Singaporean, Chinese, Indian, Malay, Western, Korean, Japanese, and other kinds of food!
Food from Hawker centers can be as cheap as S$ 4 (about 320yen).
Because there are various kinds of food, drinks, and desserts,
exploring hawker centers can be pretty fun!
After I enjoy my meal, I go back to work and work until 6pm.
In the office, every day I have many opportunities to speak, read, and write in English.
My host company also provides me various jobs so that I can gain professional knowledge.
Sometimes after work, I go out with my friends or colleagues for dinner.
Next time I will share with you what I normally do after work!
Thanks for reading till end???
Hope you could get some ideas about what it is like to so internship in Singapore
See you soon~
